Water Level Rise in Molonglo River

As part of the routine surveillance of Scrivener dam the dam operator will commence deliberately lowering the level of Lake Burley Griffin from Sunday night (29 November 2015) to facilitate inspections of sub-surface drainage and dam dissipater (concrete area below dam).

The lake will only be lowered 100mm and after next week’s inspections, the level will be left to rise back to normal levels.

Meanwhile the dam the sluice gates will be used to  release water into the Molonglo.

The flow down stream of the dam is expected to be minor but equestrians using the low level crossing below the dam to travel between Equestrian Park and the Arboretum next week are advised to check the water levels and be aware that the River might be moving too swiftly for a horse to cross safely.
