ACTEA has had an on-site meeting at the Yarralumla Creek underpass into Equestrian Park with Huon Construction and representatives of RoadsACT and Black Mountain Assurance, the works supervisor. The noise and business around the underpass has increased greatly in the last month and ACTEA is looking for ways in which to improve safety of access. Both Roads ACT and Huon are now receptive to the idea of temporary pedestrian activated lights to enable riders to get across the Cotter Road to Equestrian Park and beyond instead of the original complicated system at McCulloch Street. This requires approval of a Traffic Management Plan so won’t happen instantaneously but watch this space! In the meantime Huon will clean up and remove hazards in the underpass as indicated in the attached photographs.(Underpass 1, Underpass 2, Underpass 3)
Just a reminder, roadworks generally are 7:30am to 6pm weekdays and 7:30 to 1pm on Saturdays. There should be no work on Sundays. Huon does not work at all on weekends that the Park is booked for events over the whole weekend.
