ACT Basin Water Quality Projects Identified

The ACT Basin Water Quality Project has moved on to the next step. If you go to http://www.environment.act.gov.au/water/act-basin-priority-project/our-catchments you can access a list of the projects which have received funding under the joint ACT/Commonwealth project.  On first glance only 4 projects have a possibility of impacting on equestrians:

  • Wetlands – Cotter Road south of Pearlman Street, Wright (BNT route on Dixon Drive)
  • Creek stabilisation – Yarralumla Creek, Lady Denman Drive, Yarralumla (Equestrian Park)
  • Rain gardens – Fadden Pines Reserve, Fadden (Riding route from Macarthur Paddocks)
  • Rain garden, Reynolds Street, Curtin (Riding route from Curtin & Illoura Paddocks)

At the moment we have no details about the individual projects and they may not present any issues for horse riders. ACTEA is seeking clarification from the Project Management and where necessary consultation about design.

There are numerous other projects which can be viewed at the map at http://www.environment.act.gov.au/__data/assets/image/0005/865544/BPP-Phase-2-Options.jpg

Please let ACTEA know if you identify any trail conflicts we have missed.
