Horse Feeding is Essential Travel

Questions have been raised about whether horse owners can drive to paddocks to feed their animals, particularly if those horses are on the other side of the ACT/NSW border.

Advice from the Minister for Health, Rachel Stephen-Smith, today is as follows:

People will be allowed to travel to feed animals. I am conscious of the need to ensure that agistment facilities, kennels, etc are appropriately considered in any future restrictions and directions. But I totally understand the concerns people have that this might be overlooked if someone isn’t keeping an eye on it!

We have not and cannot close the ACT border. Chief Minister is talking in all interviews etc about “Canberra region”. We’re discouraging non-essential travel in and out of the region, but not in and out of ACT from within the region.
