Without doubt due to the overwhelming 117 submissions from the equestrian community, any heritage listing of the Yarralumla Woolshed has been delayed by the Minister for Planning. At this stage, it is anticipated the Council will make its final decision on registration of the site at its meeting of 19 November 2015. It seems very unlikely that the Council will change its mind about including the cross-country course in the listing as a setting for Yarralumla Woolshed.
However, following comments raised during public consultation, the Minister has encouraged the development of Heritage Guidelines under section 25 of the Heritage Act 2004 to provide clarity to the ACT Community regarding potential implications of heritage listing. The Council will develop these guidelines, which will be released for public consultation, in consultation ACTEA beginning in the next few weeks.
