Whatever Happened to Revised Canberra Nature Park Draft Reserve Management Plan?

For those of you who have been wondering what happened to the Revised Canberra Nature Park Draft Reserve Management Plan 2020, the Minister for Planning and Land Management referred it and the Consultation Report to the Legislative Assembly Standing Committee on Planning, Transport and City Services on 22 January 2021 for their consideration as required under the Nature Conservation Act.

This is an important document as it is the one which will allow consideration of equestrian access to an increased number of nature reserves.

The Standing Committee has six months to consider the plan and it is at the Committee’s discretion whether a public inquiry is held. Should the Committee decide to conduct an inquiry, they may call for submissions.

When the Committee has considered the draft plan, they will report back to the Minister with their recommendations. A government process will then finalise the plan and when approved by the Minister, the final plan will be tabled in the Legislative Assembly as a Disallowable Instrument and replace the existing Canberra Nature Park Management Plan 1999.

So probably no further news until July.
