Stromlo Running Festival 21-22 November

Over the coming weekend around 2,000 people will be participating in the Canberra Running Festival. This will take place at the Arboretum and Stromlo Forest Park and the connecting trails between them along the Molonglo River Corridor.

The 50k event will start on the Molonglo at 6:00am on Saturday morning and run to the top of Dairy Farmers Hill in the Arboretum and then back the same way to Stromlo Forest Park. Organisers expect to be finished in the Arboretum around 9:00am.

Saturday’s race will continue at SFP from 7:00am and use pretty much the entire facility including the fire trails in West Stromlo. They expect to finish around 4:00pm. (https://stromlorunningfestival.com.au/wp-content/uploads/50km-course-ultra-running-stromlo-forest-park.jpg)

There will be signage and road closures.

On Sunday a shorter 10k race using most of the equestrian trails on the eastern face of the mountain will start at SFP at 7:00am and finish there by 1:00pm. (https://stromlorunningfestival.com.au/10k-course) This event will not impact on the western carpark or West Stromlo although it could be awash with disenfranchised cyclists.

For safety reasons SFP management will close all of Stromlo’s trails to other users for the entire weekend. The best bet for a riding destination on the weekend would be the Arboretum after 9:00am on Saturday and any time on Sunday.
