The Cork Oaks Cavaletti Has Moved

Update

The cavaletti has moved.

Over the next week or so, weather permitting work will be done to upgrade the trails in the Cork Oak forest and up at the Himalayan Pines. There may be some detours.

The Arboretum is moving the old cavaletti between the Cork Oak plantation at the northern entrance to the facility and the route up to the Himalayan Pines. It presently opens onto a carpark which will soon be the end point for a downhill walking and cycling track. For everyone’s safety the cavaletti is being moved eastward along the fence line so that it opens onto a grassy area. The BNT route will then pass through some trees and cross the Cork Oaks management track further down away from the carpark before linking up with the existing horse trail through the Himalayan Pines.

Work will begin on 15 July and is expected to take 3 days. The contractor will do the work in stages so there will always be space to ride through. Be aware that there may be bunting etc in place while the works are being done.
